Set in the Medoc between the sea and miles of forests and marches, this romantic cut stone farmhouse is in a unique position away from the crowds in large secluded grounds. It boasts a superb stone edge swimming pool with a covered dinning area, barbeque and outside kitchen. It is only a 10 minute drive from the beautiful surfing beaches of the silver coast and 15 minutes from Frances largest lake; Hourtin.
This very comfortable property has kept its original charm with lots of decorative antique furniture, lovely bathrooms and a well equipped kitchen with a table seating 16. Full of character with antique fireplaces and stone walls, it is spacious and elegantly decorated with a special charm for children. The house is not over restored ( style chabby-chic). All rooms have antique french beds and children have Napoleonic lis d'enfant.
At the rear is an organic vegetable garden and you can have home-made meals cooked to order using the specilities of the region, including organic pork from the neighbouring farm and seafood and fresh fish from montalivet market.
Surrounded by a private forest it is the ideal setting for bird watching and there are 14 nature reserves with in the hour. There are many walks and cycle rides to be enjoyed in the surrounding countryside, or you can visit the famous chateaux of the Medoc, such as Beychevelle, Rothschild and Margaux. The lake at Picquerot is ideal for small children, windsurfing, fishing or horse riding.
