Montalivet

Montalivet Forest

Please note that the forest is fragile so please be careful when you venture in. The forest was first planted in Napoleonic times to help drain the marshlands which covered this region, so you will find a fine mix of Atlantic Pine (planted for harvest) and the original trees from the days before including birch and cedar.

- The Vendays-Montalivet section is part of the largest forest in Europe that stretches down to the Pays Basque region. Natural wildlife viewing is also a possibility here you will find wild boar, deer, rabbit, fox and pheasants amongst the local inhabitants.
